New wines at Vagabond

Vagabond have some good wines down on Fulham Broadway – 100 available on a pay-and-taste fancy gimlet that costs £1 a pop. A tasting of new wines included the old truism that old Cahors gets stickeir with age witness Prince Probus from Triguedena, a 2001 edition that is all sticky licorice and also that Bergerac can rival Brodeaux when it puts its mind to it with a fine Mouline des Dames from Luc de Conde, a classic 60/40 cab/merlot split with great colour, perhaps too short a finish but otherwise exemplary. The honey-ed sweetness of La Magondia from Pau sees it marched up the aisle with foe gras but it can also make a fine aperitif as the days get warmer. 22 Vanston Place, SW6 1AE 0207 301 1717
